San Onofre State Beach in San Clemente is one of California’s most popular beaches and hosts surfers, swimmers, sunbathers, campers, kayakers, birders, fishermen and bicyclists. It has almost 2.5 million visitors per year and it is one of the top five most-visited state parks in California.

When you are done riding be sure to take a stroll on the San Clemente Pier, grab a bite to eat on Del Mar Street, relax on our of their beautiful beaches or take a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. Pairing these activities with some time in the dirt will make for a perfect fall weekend or day!

The San Clemente half-day skills clinic starts with a small group skills session before riders hit the trails for a coached ride. Riders of all levels are encouraged to attend. Riders will be grouped by skill and coaches will differentiate instruction based on the needs of the riders. Beginner and intermediate coached rides available.

All riders will meet at Richard Steed Memorial Park () for check-in and the skills portion of the clinic. After the skills session, riders will break into groups and head out with a coach for the ride. Pace and route of the rides will vary depending on the level of each group. All riders will meet back at Richard Steed Memorial Park for post-ride refreshments and Q&A.

Trail Description: The San Clemente Single Track is the common name for the trail network at the inland most portion of the San Onofre State Beach. These trails are real single track being only 12-16 inches wide in most places. There are so many interlocking trails in this network that you can easily complete 15+ miles with just a few do-over sections without ever being too far away from our starting point.

What to Bring:

  • Bike (rentals available from San Clemente Cyclery)
  • Pedals (Flat or clip-ins)
  • Bike Shoes depending on the type of pedals you bring or have
  • Helmet
  • Sunglasses (optional but suggested)
  • Gloves
  • Padded shorts
  • Water bottle or hydration pack
  • Snack for the ride
  • Bike tools and an extra tube
  • Warm clothes for after the ride
