Since 2005, the USA Triathlon Women’s Committee has awarded more than $30,000 in grant funding to programs across the country that support female triathletes of all abilities.

The USA Triathlon Women’s Committee is pleased to announce that it has awarded $2,000 in matching reimbursable grant funding to each of these worthy programs: Portland Triathlon Club in Portland, Oregon, Team Freeplay Women’s Triathlon     Team based in Rocklin, California, and Tri It For Life in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The grants will be used to support the growth of their programs that foster girls and women’s triathlon participation at all levels of the sport.

“The Women’s Committee is proud to support these organizations that share our mission to increase opportunities for girls and women to participate in our sport and thus develop a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Tara Comer, USA Triathlon Women’s Committee Chair.

Portland Triathlon Club
The Portland Triathlon Club is the largest multisport club in Oregon. Among the programs they host is an annual Mock Triathlon which is an opportunity for experienced triathletes to support and mentor newcomers to the sport.

Team Freeplay Women’s Triathlon Team
Team Freeplay is a women’s triathlon team based out of Northern California that is currently composed of 10 athletes who compete at the professional, elite amateur, or top age-group level.

Tri It For Life
Tri It For Life (TIFL) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that mentors first-time female triathletes as they prepare for and complete in a women’s only super sprint triathlon and develop healthy lifestyles through multisport training, mentorship and commitment.

The USA Triathlon Women’s Committee is focused on creating a resource for female athletes of all levels and socioeconomic backgrounds by mentoring professional growth for women in the sport of triathlon. The Women’s Committee is concentrating on the quality of training as well as opportunities available for women in positions of authority and decision-making within associations that govern the sport. The WC is a national committee of women from all over the U.S. with a variety of professions and diverse levels of participation in triathlon.
