LAKE TAHOE, California – The Tahoe Cup Paddle Racing Series finale the ‘Tahoe Fall Classic’, a 22-mile paddling race and the longest inland distance paddleboard race in the world, will take place at Lake Tahoe on Sunday, September 13, 2015.
The third and final race of the Tahoe Cup series, The Fall Classic will host over 150 men and women paddlers from all over the world.
The cross-lake race starts at 8am from El Dorado Beach in South Lake Tahoe. Competitors will paddle 22 miles across Lake Tahoe to the finish at Kings Beach State Beach in North Lake Tahoe. On-line registration is recommended. Race day registration starts at 7:00am.
The 2015 Tahoe Fall Classic race is open to all paddling craft, advanced recreational paddlers and elite class SUP participants. *The 22 mile race is not recommended for beginners.
*Prone paddlers have an additional incentive in the cross-lake event. The first prone paddleboard to cross the finish line in Kings Beach will win $300 cash, the second $200, and the third across will win $100.
Two other race events will be held on Sunday in addition to the lake crossing. A 3-mile short course race for paddlers of all abilities will begin at 10am, followed by a ‘Grom’ race (for paddlers under 11 years old).
All participants need to provide their own equipment (including a personal floatation device (PFD). Participants under 18 years of age need to have a release of liability signed by a parent or legal guardian. *Participants 18 and under need to provide their own safety boat for the 22 mile race.
Following the race, Lunch will be provided to the long and short course participants and Awards will be presented. Spectators are welcome. Free demos will be provided by Surftech and Willard’s Sport Shop.
