Freeplay Triathlon Team athletes plan to kick of their season in a few weeks. The squad which is composed of three professional athletes, an elite amateur and 6 top age-group women are looking forward to a busy season of training and racing. Both professional triathlete Sarah Cameto and elite amateur Laurence Delisle train under Matt Dixon. Both Cameto and Delisle will kick off their seasons at the Purple Patch Pro Training Camp in Kona at the end of January.
While Cameto and Delisle are training on the island, several athletes plan to start their seasons closer to home at some Northern California road races. On February 1st Stephanie Artis, team director and Freeplay athlete, plans to start her season with a short and quick 5k at the Super Sunday Run hosted by the Sacramento Running Association. Elise Winter plans to compete in the 10k at this same event. Winter won the MandaRun Half Marathon last fall and looks to set a personal record in the 10k.
On this same weekend Caroline Lea, who placed 7th in The North Face 50k in December, and Anna Hertel, who posted the fastest age-group bike split at the Miami 70.3, will be racing the Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon in San Francisco.
The Freeplay Triathlon Team is excited to start the season and looks forward to competing in their first triathlons in March. Individual athlete schedules are available on the website.
