Let’s Ride…in the dirt!
Freeplay heads south for some mountain bike fun! Join us Sunday, June 12 for a women’s only off-road ride and clinic on the Lake Calavera Trail in Carlsbad. The terrain is sandy chaparral, with curvy singletrack, some fun downhill sections and is perfect for all levels of riders.
The ride will be led by Freeplay writer and endurance athlete, Megan Jaffe and Team Betty Designs athlete Christy Fritts. Freeplay co-founder and editor, Stephanie Artis, will also be along for the ride!
Each participant will receive a goodie bag with swag from Freeplay magazine, Nature’s Bakery, Betty Designs, Liv Cycling, GU and more…. Participants will also be automatically entered in our post-ride raffle!
Event is limited to 20 participants in order to ensure safety and that personal feedback is received.

Ride Details
When: Sunday, June 12
Time: 4-6pm
Where: Lake Calavera Trail in Carlsbad
Cost: $20 per person. Register here.
The ride will begin at 4:00pm so please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to get your bike and gear ready, sign a waiver and participate in the pre-event briefing. Riders must have a helmet, water, a spare tube, pump and/or other tools to change a flat.
*All riders must be 18 years or older or be accompanied by an adult. All riders must sign a waiver prior to start. Event day registration will only available if openings remain.

4:20-5:30pm Ride with stops along the way to check-in with riders and/or practice obstacles

About the Ride Leads
Megan Jaffe is a long time endurance athlete and Freeplay magazine writer. She began running at the age of 14, competing in both cross country and track and field throughout high school and college. After college she continued running while also adding both triathlon and mountain biking to her sports resume.
Christy Fritts, a Team Betty Designs athlete, has competed in over 70 triathlons and running races throughout her endurance sports career. She is a 2015 Xterra World Championships athlete and just qualified for the 2016 Xterra World Championships by winning her age group at Xterra Alabama.
