December 2, 2015 – Rocklin, CaliforniaFreeplay magazine announced today it’s complete 10-woman roster for the 2015 triathlon season. The team added three professional female triathletes to create the core of its 2015 squad, while adding six elite amateur/top age-group women under directorship of Stephanie Artis.

2014 age group 70.3 champion (Vineman 70.3, Mt. Tremblant 70.3, Kansas 70.3) and now professional triathlete Sarah Cameto, former ITU specialist Kelsey Withrow, and emerging talent Robin Pomeroy complete the professional roster. Elite amateur Laurence Delisle from UCLA and 2014 Raleigh 70.3 age-group(30-34) champion, Christine Scott also committed to racing with Freeplay during the 2015 season. Anna Hertel, Caroline Lea, Faith Lehman, and Elise Winter have signed with the team and complete the 10-woman roster.

Former elite triathlete and division 1 track and field athlete, Stephanie Artis, assumes the position as team director. Stephanie’s background in educational leadership, as co-founder of Freeplay magazine and as a former elite athlete will be a great asset for this new Northern California based team. “I understand the importance of supporting women in endurance sports and have a lot of experience on the administrative end as well,” said Artis. Artis will also be one of the ten women racing for Freeplay in 2015.

“Before we started assembling a roster for 2015, we first determined our specific goals,” said Artis. “We targeted women in Northern California who have demonstrated commitment to the sport, the team aspect and involvement in their community. With a variety of individual goals Freeplay will not have required team events in 2015. Athletes’ individual goals include qualifying for the Ironman World Championships, Ironman 70.3 World Championships, and competing in the Toyota Triple Crown Series. Sarah Cameto highlights the list of athletes for Freeplay. Cameto, a professional triathlete training under Matt Dixon, arrives with several overall age group wins and two Top 5 finishes as a professional triathlete after turning pro at the end of 2014.

“Sarah will be vital in helping us build a successful team this first year,” said Artis. “She’s relatively new to the sport but has strong knowledge base of the sport and will continue to improve and have success at the half IM distance over the next several years.”

Kelsey Withrow returns to triathlon after a break in 2014 from injuries including getting hit by a truck; Withrow, a former collegiate swimmer and ITU athlete, looks to make her Ironman debut this season.

“Kelsey is a great rider with a history of putting in big miles on the bike as a Cat 1 cyclist for Cycling DNA. Her talent in the water combined with her strength on the bike will make her a threat on the Ironman circuit” said Artis.

Robin Pomeroy, who also joins the team from Bicycles Plus, is a specialist in short course racing, earning second at the 2014 Age Group Nationals. Pomeroy finished her 2014 season with a dominating elite amateur win at Lifetime Fitness Oceanside. Adding to the depth of talent is Olympic distance specialist Laurence Delisle, who has found success with the UCLA triathlon team in short course racing– she placed second at the 2014 Collegiate Nationals after swimming in the Olympic Trials in 2012. Laurence will look to grow as a triathlete over the 2015 season under the guidance of Matt Dixon of Purple Patch Fitness.

Joining the Freeplay triathlon staff as Director of Media is Sean Dulany. Dulany came to Freeplay magazine with an engineering background and 16 years of experience in the bicycle industry. “Sean had an excellent professional career developing strong relationships with key industry partners. He has done a great job with Freeplay magazine and through SMD Designs; we are excited to have him as a part of the team for 2015.”
