This weekend looks to be a big weekend of racing for Team Freeplay athletes. Several Team Freeplay athletes will be kicking off their triathlon seasons this weekend in Northern California.

Freeplay pro Robin Pomeroy and age-group athlete Christine Scott will be starting this season in Half Moon Bay at the USA Productions Half Moon Bay Triathlon. The Half Moon Bay Triathlon is one of twelve USA Productions races that will be held in Northern California this year.11010985_10104803629210488_1026385841892668515_n

2015 is Pomeroy’s first season racing as a pro triathlete. Last year she was the overall female winner of the Half Moon Bay Triathlon, completing the Olympic distance event in a time 0f 2:14:54. Pomeroy plans to compete in several USA Production events this season including the Morgan Hill Sprint Triathlon and the Folsom Triathlon in August. Scott has several races on her calendar but her season will culminate with Ironman Wisconsin in September.

Anna Hertel of Team Freeplay will also be joining Pomeroy and Scott in Half Moon Bay this weekend. This event will be Hertel’s third triathlon of the season. Earlier in the year, Hertel placed top 15 in her age group at the California 70.3 in Oceanside and 3rd in her age group at the Stanford Treeathlon.

Further North, Elise Winter is scheduled to race the Total Body Fitness Ice Breaker Triathlon. The Icebreaker Triathlon is a sprint distance event held at Folsom Lake in Granite Bay. Winter was 2nd overall in 2014 and the 40-44 AG winner. She looks to defend her AG title this weekend.

Winter, Scott and Pomeroy will be competing in the Wildflower Triathlon in early May. The Wildflower Triathlon is Tri-California’s premier event. They offer a mountain bike triathlon, an Olympic distance race and a half-distance triathlon.
