Over the past two years we have dedicated a lot of time and resources to getting more women involved in triathlons and cycling. As part of our efforts we have hosted several mountain bike clinics in Northern and Southern California geared towards Xterra Off-Road Triathlons, Freeplay Pro Panels, race clinics for events such as Vineman 70.3 and Ironman Lake Tahoe and participated in the Tri Like a Girl events at Folsom Bike.
Working with Folsom Bike and Liv Cycling ,through their ambassador program, in 2016 was a winning combination! Through our partnership we were able to get over 300 women on road bikes… at the Tri Like a Girl program alone. Tri Like a Girl rides and runs were free to the community and were held on the first Saturday of each month. At each event, women of all levels had the opportunity to connect with each other on a 20-25 mile bike ride and practice their triathlon transitions by getting in a short 2-4 mile run off the bike. It was a great opportunity for women to gain confidence and new skills for the season.
I am looking forward to continuing to work with Folsom Bike in 2017! It is an honor to represent a business that is so dedicated to women’s cycling. We have over 15 women’s events scheduled with Folsom Bike in 2017 and an additional 10 Freeplay mountain bike, run and paddle board events on our schedule for next year.
